Am I any better than the crack addict who lives everyday for a hit, when I spend every waking minute thinking about his voice, his eyes, his touch and his laugh?
Am I any better than the crack addict who searches time after time for that ultimate high, when all I do is dream of how good it feels when I'm with him? Am I any better than the crack addict who would sell everything they have for a hit, when I would give anything he asked just to be in his presence? Am I any better than the crack addict who lies and steals from loved ones to support their habit, when I crawl out of my bed in the middle of the night to go and sneak in his so my family and friends won't know? Am I any better than the crack addict who would neglect self because the most important thing in life is a hit, when I would rather go to bed hungry than to sit up and long for him? Am I any better than the crack addict? No, I am just like the crack addict, phennin' for something that is not good to me or for me- something that is stripping my self respect and destroying my self esteem - I am the crack addict; on a lethal dose of legalized crack cocaine...A MAN. |
