This morning I opened a door to
smells of magnolias in bloom,
Pink and blue azaleas were there
a soft breeze blew a kiss at my face
I turned and had on my best sun dress,
tied my hair back in a tail
and took off on a trip with
trails of yellow honeysuckles leading the way.
I dipped and danced through curved streets of bricks and wobbled cobblestones,
I tiptoed and sloshed through mud puddles where it rained
and dined on the best Caribbean salt fish
And red velvet cake
I smiled and waved bye at a couple near a fence,
then turned and closed the door.
Ma’am, the store clerk said, the book is 20.95
Just 20.95 and its yours

When you know who you are,
your footsteps are ordered by the Lord.
When you know who you are,
You Love God above all others,
you worship Him,
you praise Him for Jesus,
you follow His word,
you love you neighbor,
you live with integrity,
you read Jesus Words and learn,
you communicate your gift,
you meditate day and night
You Evangelize!

Decision
The choice of twist is
Driver or passenger
Controller or victim
Let the victim be me
I’ll slide for the ride
Sit back, close my eyes
So to speak
So to speak
Why fret about direction
Let it be the driver’s fault
Let it be his own doing
His perfected imperfection
So to speak
So to speak
So I’ll be the victim,
The passenger you see
not the driver
the controller
Let him have the seat
Decisively,
Taking ownership is a hands-on job
Grandma’s Cabinet
Grandma’s cabinet had an upper shelf
Where she kept a ball of string
Bits and pieces – scraps knotted together
Waiting to unwind – new needs to tether
This piece from the butcher
Wrapped around the roast
This one tied the roses blooming by the pine
Her past rolled in her ball of twine
I have a ball of memories
Recycled, binding my soul like roses
Bits and pieces – scraps knotted together
Wanting to unwind – my spirit to untether
Thoughts
When I asked, can I play?
They told me I was it.
When I asked to be loved
No one answered.
When I asked can I play?
They told me I was it.
When I asked to give love
No one answered.
I don’t want to play anymore
I can’t find love in a game

CHANGE
Mother oak gave up
her leaves
gold
orange
brown
and red
with little more than a
brief shudder
and a shaking
of her head
No crying
no wailing or
thrashing about
just a quiet
knowing
without
a doubt
That it is
time to
Change.
